Finally (and somewhat randomly)- a GK list I like

Hey there folks!  Today I want to present you with a GK list that I actually like.  That is, it has Psyflemen, Purifiers, Melta, a Librarian w/ lots of powers, and a big old unit of Terminators.

First, here's the list:

Librarian w/ 5x Powers
Coteaz

5x Purifiers w/ MC Hammer, 2x Psycannons // Rhino
5x Purifiers w/ MC Hammer, 2x Psycannons // Rhino

10x Terminators w/ Brotherhood Standard, 2x Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo
3x Acolytes w/ 3x Melta Guns // Razorback w/ Psybolt Ammo
3x Acolytes w/ 3x Melta Guns // Razorback w/ Psybolt Ammo
3x Acolytes w/ 3x Melta Guns // Razorback w/ Psybolt Ammo
3x Acolytes w/ 3x Melta Guns // Razorback w/ Psybolt Ammo
3x Acolytes w/ 2x Melta Guns // Razorback w/ Psybolt Ammo

Dreadnought w/ 2x TL Autocannons w/ Psybolt Ammo
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL Autocannons w/ Psybolt Ammo
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL Autocannons w/ Psybolt Ammo

Thoughts:

Coteaz can go with some Purifiers to give them Hammerhand while they use their Cleansing Flame.

The Librarian (somewhat obviously) goes with the Terminator, making a miniature deathstar that nobody wants to face.

The acolytes have the option of sitting back and scoring in their awesome, efficient rides, or suiciding against Land Raiders or whatever other vehicles the Psyflemen are having difficulty with.  Sure, when the Psyback explodes, the acolytes all die horribly, but honestly- if someone is shooting my Psybacks, they either suck at target priority, or I've lost enough of my other vehicles that I'm already in pretty bad shape.

The Purifiers aren't scoring, so I no longer care if they die or not.  But, they do have rhinos, so killing them off is going to take some concerted effort.  They're there not only for the anti-everything Psycannons, but also for crowd control- trying to get multi-assaults off and just generally causing mayhem.  It's fun to have a unit that costs as 'cheap' as they are, that I don't really care what happens to them.  They'll cause some serious problems for most armies if left to do their own thing.

Terminators have lots of S5/S7 shooting, and will usually have a 3+ cover save.  Their business is cracking other Deathstars, or hordes, or whatever else.  They present a problem that nobody can really deal with easily, and if they're wiped out, it doesn't matter very much since I have lots of other scorers.

A few numbers:

7 transports, for a total of 10 unshakeable vehicles
16 S5 shots/turn (~10 hit)
15 S6 (~13 hit)
16-24 S7 shots/turn (depending on if Purifiers move) (~10-16 hit)
12 S8 shots/turn (~11 hit)
14 melta guns, which may never be used, but are very comforting to have

It's not as crazy as many of my other lists in terms of sheer firepower, but it does have more survivability, and probably more flexibility.  Torrents of fire from everywhere on the table makes my Dark Eldar scared, lol.  They probably should be.

So, thoughts?  Is everyone going to condemn the use of melta on the poor, easy-to-kill acolytes?  Only time will tell...

It looks like a solid list to me. I want to build a power armor GK army next.... Lots of psycannons.

Being someone who loves the lore of the Grey Knights I am saddened that the most enjoyable list I can come up with them primarily has Inquisition models. It goes something like this:

Coteaz
3 Dreadnought (Psybolt + 2 Auto)
3 Purifiers + Razorbacks
6 Henchmen Squads

The squads would be Pysker squads in Chimeras and crusader squads on foot.

I love the idea of having 12 man squads with 3+ invuln saves for dirt cheap. I think they would make great bubble wrap.
