Hey, I'm Xaereth, welcome to Delusions of Grandeur! This is a blog dedicated (mostly) to competitive play in miniature gaming. I used to play 40k competitively, but have since started to play Warmachine exclusively. Mostly just battle reports these days. We'll see if I ever make time for more. Heh.

Going to the Bugeater
Randomly surfing los blogosphere the other day, I found mention of the Bugeater GT in Omaha, NE. I had never heard of it, so I visited their website, and found that indeed, Omaha is looking to hold their very first GT-level tournament!
With further research, it was revealed that
Omaha is a mere (lol) 8-hour drive from Colorado, and that there were still spots open in it. So, after a few quick texts and calls with my friend CJ, we decided to sign up and go.
So, what's the allure of the Bugeater to me?
- Well, it's a Nova-style event, with the same mission format
- It's a tournament with a ton of games (6) as opposed to only 3 in a normal RTT
- It's a great opportunity to playtest the shite out of my Dark Eldar before BoLSCON in July
- It's a GT!! GT's are awesome :) Plus, I've never gotten to play in Nebraska before!
-I really really like driving all the way across exciting Nebraska :-p
The tournament itself is 1850 points, so I'm going to drop the Beast squad, for pure simplicity. Out go the beasts, in go another 2 Grisly Trophies (for a total of 5) and I'm at 1850 solid.
We have to submit lists by June 10 (Friday), which is understandable for them- if we have to submit lists sometime, easier to check them all two weeks in advance.
Here is the list I'll be submitting:
Baron Sathonyx
Haemonculus
7x Incubi // Raider w/ Aether Sails, Grisly Trophies, Flickerfield
19x Hellions w/ Helliarch
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
3x Wracks // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
6x Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2x Heat Lances
6x Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2x Heat Lances
Ravager w/ Flickerfield
Ravager w/ Flickerfield
Ravager w/ Flickerfield
After having played my 2nd game ever with Dark Eldar (first ever without proxies!), I don't feel like I'll miss the beasts terribly much. Of course, I could be very wrong, and only time will tell. Should just be fun to go roll some dice, and try to win a GT! :)
Anyone else going? Any thoughts?

Looks like a good opportunity for your bondage elves! I wish there were some tournaments close to me but I can't seem to find any.
So yer bringing the dark kin to Austin - that's scary indeed. I think you've got a really solid list. I have decided to bring my Draigowing - more of a fun list but still potent - very strong in killpoint missions.
The Bugeater sounds very interesting - what an excellent tune up for Austin. I'm sure you'll do very well in NE... good luck, not that you'll need it much.
I bought my first venom today and a Ravager (I'm going with dissies to soak terminators).
See ya in July.
Guess I'll see you there then!
Servvs: Heh, really? Whereabouts do you live? I'm sure there's some sort of tournament nearby- I used to live in WYOMING and they had tournaments all over the place!
Steve: Draigowing eh? That's cool, hope I don't have to play against it if it's kill points though, that's my main weakness with Dark Eldar, along with Imperial Guard :-p Thanks for the well-wishing though, I'm sure we'll both rock BoLSCON!
Patrick: Heh... cool man, cya there!
Columbus Ohio, which is crazy as it is a big city you would think more people would want to play here.
Good to here your making the short trip across Nebraska...lol. Make sure you have a full tank of gas cuz there are so many towns through there.
It will be good to put face to your tag as I have seen your name around the net. Look me up friday or saturday, i'll buy ya a drink!
Dunn: Sounds epic man, I'll for sure take you up on it! I'll be the tall dude with my 'Let the Wookie Win' T-shirt on day 1 (and maybe day 2, if I do well day 1 :-p)
Come say hi! (That goes for everyone else too!)
