If I played Eldar, this is the list I would build

...it's kind of boring, in that I've spammed the only effective units in the book to a ridiculous level.  Take a look.  Notes a little later.

Oh yeah.  First, go here.  Not because it's super relevant (it kind of is), but because it's awesome.

(Light?) Eldar at 2000 Points:

Eldrad (duh?)

6x Fire Dragons // Wave Serpent w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones
6x Fire Dragons // Wave Serpent w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones
6x Fire Dragons // Wave Serpent w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones

3x Guardian Jetbikes w/ Shuriken Cannon
3x Guardian Jetbikes w/ Shuriken Cannon
5x Dire Avengers // Wave Serpent w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons
5x Dire Avengers (go in Falcon!)
5x Dire Avengers (go in Falcon!)
5x Dire Avengers (go in Falcon!)

2x Vypers w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons (each)
2x Vypers w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons (each)

Falcon w/ Pulse Laser, 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones
Falcon w/ Pulse Laser, 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones
Falcon w/ Pulse Laser, 2x Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones

Heh, almost maxed the force org w/ Eldar?  Well, it's not really too impressive at that- split up a Vyper squad (probably a good choice) and there you go.  A couple numbers:

72 S6 shots/turn (albeit all at 24", and BS3)
6 S8 AP2 shots/turn
18 available Meltas for a couple very lucky vehicles/units out there
Um, a couple super accurate Vyper squadrons, since Eldrad can guide them?

So, the list depends on side shots against Chimera spam, though it can certainly do a fair amount of damage with the Fire Dragons and stunlock a few vehicles with Guided Falcons' Pulse Lasers.

It doesn't have holo-fields.  Oh well- Falcons are way overpriced if they have them.

Fire Dragons are actually in the better-protected Wave Serpents, with stones to make their delivery more viable.

Vyper Squadrons are 120 points each- they put out 12 S6 shots, which isn't terribad.  Those points could be used to get more scoring/serpents if I wanted, but... meh.

Guardian Jetbikes just zip around and contest/control objectives from reserves.  Pretty annoying, I know.  :-p  That's how Eldar win games though- kill a few good targets, contest lots of objectives at the end, and hold on tight against guard and wolves, haha.

Still, this list has some serious S6 weaponry, which would give most lists problems.  The S6 weaponry (unguided) will average 2 dead rhino/razorbacks a turn (not to mention all the weapon destroyed/immobilized results you might get as well), or swallow an entire Tactical squad whole.

Fire Dragons kill all three Land Raiders your opponent took, easily.  Wait, he didn't take 3?  Oh, then I guess kill... that rhino over there?

Dire Avengers do what they do best- keep their mouths shut, and score, cheaply.

Vypers could also be changed out for this squad (which I might do, since they're more fun):

9x Warp Spiders w/ Exarch w/ 2x Death Spinners, Power Blades, Withdraw

It replaces 24 BS3 shots with 20 BS4/5 shots, and a little worse range, but a little bit of combat awesomeness.  Just a little bit, mind you.  /shrug

Um, guess that's it.  Not really sure what prompted this post.  Is the list optimized?  Maybe... I think it's nearly optimized at least.  Maybe some fire prisms instead?  Then we'd have to retool the whole thing, and I don't really care for them much, to be perfectly honest.

What I wish is that Striking Scorpions or Banshees were any good.  Then I'd take those.

Dear Games Workshop:

Please redo Eldar so I can actually build a cool army that doesn't involve spamming the only good units over and over.

Love,

Xaereth
