Warmachine Battle Report 48: Baldur1 and Tanith at a Steamroller, 75 points

Image result for karliquin's game knight

Hello all, another tournament report for you today! I've been playing very little lately, and the games that I have been playing have been somewhat silly affairs, mostly including Krueger2 and the Celestial Fulcrum.
However, I wanted one more shot at Tanith + Baldur1 in ADR, so that's what I took. I hadn't played either list since the LAST tournament in November. That meant I'd be a little rusty, but I wasn't too concerned.

(that isn't to say I should have been concerned, just that I wasn't, haha!)

Let's jump right into it!

Warmachine Half-Reports: A Couple Tournament Reports without much detail

At least this report isn't fully assed.
Hey folks! I've mentioned these tournaments a few times now. There are a few events I've attended recently that even took pictures for, but didn't really have time to write reports for. Because I don't want to lose the pictures, I'm mostly just posting these up as half-reports. Please don't expect anything approaching my normal depth of analysis or detail in these. Mostly pictures with a few sentences here or there to set the context.

Warmachine Battle Report 47: Baldur1 and Tanith at "Dessert of Daggers" 75 points, 4 games total

Image result for gryphons games and comicsHello all, it's been a while since my last post. Like, 2 months or so. Who knows if it'll be that long again until I post again. Life has been very busy, with mandatory overtime at work and other stuff. I have been taking the time to play games, I just don't post about them on this blog. Not lately at least.

I spent a full month (October) playing almost exclusively Grayle. He's actually pretty strong! One (decent) theme force away from breaking into the tournament scene permanently.

During the time I was gone, I've played 3 tournaments. I'll probably do some sort of picture/info dump on the first two tournaments, since I don't want to lose those photos. I even got 3rd place at a tournament with a Grayle/Krueger2 pairing. HA!

However, I've really been looking forward to the "Dessert of Daggers" event held by my friend Josh Nordstrom at Gryphon Games & Comics. I think the name came from back in the day when the Feast of Blades (big local con) was in October, and this was the follow-up tournament. It's Gryphon's premier tournament of the year, with lots of cool prize support and a low entry fee.

This was likely to be my last semi-large tournament of the year, what with the holidays coming up. So, I brought my best. Yes, you guessed it: Baldur1 and Tanith in ADR.

2016 Tournament Results

Image result for tournament results graphicThis post will be more for my own records than anything. One of the perks to writing a battle report blog is that I get a tangible reminder of events in the past. I tend to be very nostalgic, and being able to relive old games and events is a really fun thing for me. I want to have this post for my own sake later in life, where I can see all the tournaments I played in one year and see how things went.

I don't expect that anyone else really cares about my past games/tournament record. It's not for self-aggrandizement. Whereas I certainly have an ego (as does everyone, to some degree), I don't really care to beat other people over the head with my accomplishments. I have other ways to stroke my ego if I want to do that. Still, if this sort of thing isn't something you're interested in reading, don't do it. Simple as that. :)

Warmachine Battle Report 46: Baldur1 and Baldur2 at Tacticon! 75 Points, 4 games total.

Image result for tacticonHello all! Today I've got a tournament report from a couple weeks back - I've been pretty slow at releasing content lately mostly because of time. Not sure if you remember, but in my initial "I'm back" posts, I did mention that I may not have as much time as I used to have to write these things up. It's true, and I'm also trying to keep myself from burning out. So, I've slowed down some.

At any rate, my last tournament (link here) was a frustrating event in the sense that I did not play up to the standard I usually hold myself. My decisions were poor for the most part, and this event I really wanted to correct that.

Tacticon was a good opportunity to do just that. It's a local con, and this year was the first time it would be held in Colorado Springs, which is about an hour or so drive south of Denver. Traditionally I've always gone to Tacticon for a weekend of 40k and Fantasy, but those games are (currently) dead to me, and Warmachine is my focus.

Warmachine Battle Report 45: Baldur1 and Krueger2 at 75 Point Steamroller!

Image result for funtastic gamesHowdy everyone, it's been a week or so. I've been pretty busy, and haven't gotten around to my reports. This is actually the first of two tournament reports I'll be attempting to stamp out over the course of this week (it might be more than that, we'll see).

As some of you may know, I let people vote for who my second caster should be. After an overwhelming response of Facebook, Twitter, and Blog responses, the final tally was 3 for Krueger2 and 2 for Baldur2.

Seriously, way to overwhelm me with your responses guys. :-|

Also, be prepared: this wasn't my most inspired day of playing. By a long shot. That isn't to say the games aren't interesting, but it was a little rough. :)

Haha, at any rate, here are my lists:

Warmachine Battle Report 44: Krueger2 vs. Legion and Cygnar (2 total reports)

Krueger1 or Krueger2?
At any rate, I've been trying to get him to play against lists that have a lot of shooting lately, as he's my potential shooting drop. He's also (somehow) even better at scenario than Baldur1, and has some good tricks to deal with skew lists. I'm also learning that he's got some really strong assassination potential as well.

Most of my love for him is still theoretical, but so far he's shown to be a really good "problem solver" caster.

At any rate, let's get this show on the road.

Boulder1 and Boulder2
Hi all,

FIRST OFF, there's a vote for you at the end of Game 2's report. Either post on this blog, the PP forums, or my Twitter account.

I've skipped reporting a few of my games lately, mainly because I had tournament reports to write and I wanted to make sure I wasn't burning myself out. However, no tournament last weekend meant that I could write these reports without hating life.

And then it's back to 2 or 3 tournaments in a row. And then a period of rest, because the internets can't handle that many reports, lol.

As I've stated in the past, I'm getting tired of using Wurmwood. He's just kind of ... formulaic. And truth be told, whereas I do enjoy winning, I also enjoy exploring corners of whatever faction I play that aren't currently being explored. At least, publicly explored, heh.

I'm trying to find a pairing for the really shooty lists out there, Sloan being one of the top on my list. The unreasonably optimistic part of my wants to believe that Grayle with all his shooting negation and stealth could be an answer. The reasonable side of me thinks

Warmachine Batrep 42: Baldur1 at a 1-caster 75-point Steamroller! (4 total games)

They have a Cheyenne location now too- they're taking over the world :)
Howdy all,
I've got an interesting report for you today! I played at a tournament at Gryphon Games and Comics in Fort Collins, CO (which is my old stomping grounds, if you didn't already know). They just got done with a journeyman league, and were having a 75-point tournament as the culmination of their efforts.

The catch: only one list. I was forced to choose between Wurmwood and Baldur1. In the end, I guess I've felt kind of bored of Wurmwood lately, and I enjoy almost all of my games using Baldur1. And, because any event allowing only one list was going to be prone to mismatches of one sort or another, I decided to take Baldur1.

Better to enjoy 4 games in a row than kind of dread my own feat turn 4 games in a row (people complain about the feat a lot, and take like 20 minutes to figure out what they want to do - I just get to gawk while they do it - kind of an uncomfortable situation if you ask me). At any rate, here's my list:

Rocky Mountain Rumble Videos

Hi all,

As you may or may not know, I recently went to the Rocky Mountain Rumble. The L2Wargame guys were taking videos of games, and I was fortunate enough to not only play one of their number in my Game Four, but also had my Game Five and Six recorded.

Here is the link to my written reports for that event:

Day 1

Day 2

Here is the link to the two video recorded games (assuming you want to hear my ignorant self asking really basic questions about my opponent's forces all game, haha):

Game 5

Game 6

I won't give you spoilers in this post. It's a very cool thing they're doing for the community though. Props to the L2Wargame group for doing this!

Warmachine Batrep 41: Baldur1 and Wurmwood at 75 Point Steamroller!

Five Circles!

It's been a little bit since I last posted, sorry guys. I traditionally take a little break from blogging after a big event on which I've reported. In the few weeks between the Rocky Mountain Rumble and this local steamroller, I've played a bunch of games with Tanith. Sorry, no reports (I have pictures, so they might go up eventually - don't count on it though.

At any rate, I'll eventually be exploring other Circle casters, but this particular tournament isn't one of those times.

I DID change my lists a little bit though.
