Warmachine Battle Report #51: Grayle Wolfsworn Theme Force vs. Trollbloods Horgle2, 75 Points

Grayle Grail
Hello all! I've recently discovered that my schedule will not allow me to attend any tournaments this month (February), and as such, I get a full month of playing with my new models and learning how they work!
I'm VERY excited about the new Wolfsworn theme force. I had been running a Grayle list for my more casual games, on and off. I've said things like, "if we get a theme force, this list will be legitimately competitive in tournaments." Whereas that's as yet largely untested, I've had some really fun games with the list so far.

This report will have a mini-report (no pictures, just a brief recap) of a game vs. Trolls, directly before the "feature" report, where I have pictures and everything!

Warmachine Battle Report 49: Baldur1 and Krueger2 at a Steamroller, 75 points

Image result for gryphons games and comics

Hello all,
Another month, another tournament for me. I get to go to about 1 or 2 each month, depending on what the wifey lets me do.

This was another event at my old stomping grounds, Gryphon Games and Comics in Fort Collins, CO. I've been doing pretty well at each event I've been to since I've gotten back into Warmachine, but this event was going to be a little rougher than usual: I was kind of forced to bring Krueger2 instead of Tanith (because Tanith and the birds are all out right now getting painted).

Here's my list: (after the jump)

Warmachine Battle Report 45: Baldur1 and Krueger2 at 75 Point Steamroller!

Image result for funtastic gamesHowdy everyone, it's been a week or so. I've been pretty busy, and haven't gotten around to my reports. This is actually the first of two tournament reports I'll be attempting to stamp out over the course of this week (it might be more than that, we'll see).

As some of you may know, I let people vote for who my second caster should be. After an overwhelming response of Facebook, Twitter, and Blog responses, the final tally was 3 for Krueger2 and 2 for Baldur2.

Seriously, way to overwhelm me with your responses guys. :-|

Also, be prepared: this wasn't my most inspired day of playing. By a long shot. That isn't to say the games aren't interesting, but it was a little rough. :)

Haha, at any rate, here are my lists:

Warmachine Batrep 40: Baldur1 and Wurmwood at Rocky Mountain Rumble Day 2

Day 2!
Howdy all,

This is Day 2 of Rocky Mountain Rumble. Here's the link to Day 1.

So, I'm here on Day 2. Me, and 7 other players who are all probably way better than me. Here is the breakdown of armies present:

3x Khador
2x Trollbloods (Jay Larson is one of them)
1x Circle (me)
1x Menoth
1x Skorne

I was actually excited by this development. I was pretty familiar with all of the factions other than Menoth. Whereas I didn't have a ton of MK3 experience against each of these factions, I at least wouldn't be super surprised by what each faction can do.

My goal yesterday was to make it to the top 8. I succeeded.

And like the other top 8, I had a chance to win the whole thing. That was of course my goal, but I was also prepared to lose all three of my games. I just wanted some good games against some good players!

Warmachine Batrep 38: Circle Wurmwood vs. Haley1 & Madrak2

Trolls!
Howdy all! I've got a couple more reports for you, in preparation for the Rocky Mountain Rumble coming up this weekend. It's a 6-game WMW qualifier, and I'd like to have a good showing.

My pairing is Baldur1 and Wurmwood. My Baldur1 list hasn't changed (go read other reports on this blog for more information), but my take on Wurmwood continues to evolve. I'm really enjoying this list so far. Let's see how it goes.

Warmachine Batrep 36: Baldur1 and Krueger2 in a Steamroller!

Image result for steamroller 2016

Howdy all,
Last weekend I went to my first tournament in about 1.7 years (if you haven't been following along, I had to stop playing war games for about 1.6 years due to LIFE). I was pretty excited - I've always been a tournament player at heart. Warmachine is a great game for tournament-minded players, and whereas I'd only played about 15 or so games since I'd restarted playing, I felt I had a chance to do okay at least.

When all players were finally registered, it turned out the field was rather large - 22 total players for a local steamroller is rather a lot! My goals for this particular tournament was to win (that's always my goal, lol), but I would be happy to just have a good showing. I hadn't been particularly disciplined about using a clock in my games up until the tournament, and I felt there was every chance I'd just get clobbered by a lot of better players/lists.

Here are the lists I brought:

Warmachine Batrep 30: Circle at Feast of Blades, Day 1 (D&C event + Iron Gauntlet), Lots of Pictures!

Whew! Just got back from Feast of Blades, and I'm kind of wiped out! I played a total of 14 games, and took pictures for all of them! I won't spoil the results for you all, so you can be in suspense the whole time :-p

I'll be writing up three different posts: Days 1, 2, and 3. It'll take me a while to get through all of the games, but I'll get there! I only took three different lists, though I think that at least one of those will be changing in the future. I'll let you figure out which one for yourself, haha ;)

Let's get to the jump, and we can begin to unpack the SIX games I played on Day 1 of Feast of Blades.

Warmachine Batrep #21: 50 Points Circle (assorted casters) vs. Trolls, Everblight, and Retribution (6 games total!)

One of the lists I faced was RoW...
Time for even more battle reports! I can't get enough of them, apparently! Last Saturday I got in 6 games. I took pictures for them all, and intend to write up reports for all of them. Let's get some back story first though. Maybe it's not actually back story exactly, but perhaps some context?

I have several tournaments coming up in the next couple weeks. This coming weekend is Tacticon, where I will play two different tournaments: Hardcore and a Divide and Conquer Steamroller. The Hardcore event has timed turns going 7 minutes for each turn, 50 points. Divide and Conquer I intend to play Morv2 and Krueger2 as my list pairings.

THEN, on September 13, I have the Intermountain Cup (IMC). It's a 6-game masters (meaning I need to use 3 lists) event ALL IN THE SAME DAY. I intend to play Morv2, K2, and Cassius as my list pairing.

This Saturday was intended to help me to practice it all. I wanted 5 or 6 games, wanted a couple of them to be Hardcore, and I wanted to use all 3 of my casters. So, while the games and missions may seem a little strange, I believe that Saturday's practice did an awesome job of giving me some practice for the upcoming events.

Let's jump in.

Warmachine Batrep #15: SR Tournament Report - 50 points, two casters (Circle- Morv2 + Baldur2) (with pictures!)

Bigger picture later in the report!
Howdy, everyone! Last weekend I went to a Warmachine tournament in Laramie, WY. It had 8 people attend, and I brought Circle Orboros.

I had initially wanted to take Baldur1 and Kreuger2, but I didn't have enough models painted, nor enough time to finish them all. Instead, I went for my already mostly-painted Morv2 list, and my incidentally-almost-painted Baldur2. It made sense as a list pairing, though I would have preferred Baldur1 + Kreuger2 for this particular event. Ah well. At least I got some experience with Morv2, who will more than likely make my 3-list Master's pairing.

Lists and pictures and reports after the jump!

Warmachine Batrep #13: 5 Games! 50 Points Circle (various casters) vs. Trolls, Convergence, and Retribution (with pictures!)

Wow, last Saturday I played 5 games of Warmachine. It's incredible how many games you can actually play if you use a tournament clock - it keeps players focused, and gets turns done much quicker on average than they would normally be able to. I didn't even start in the morning - sometime around 2 pm, and ended at midnight, with meals included. Pretty awesome, all told :)

I've been seeking a tournament list pairing for a tournament this coming Saturday, at 50 points. I want to make sure my lists are entirely painted for it, and as such, I have (much to my chagrin - believe me) opted for taking eMorv since her list is already so close to being fully painted. My other list, including Baldur1 and Baldur2 (since they're both so close to being painted as well) are the other two lists in question.

So, those are the lists I brought to the shop. I decided to get some practice with eMorv as well, since I'd be using her next week. Let's see what kind of madness ensued.

Warmachine Batrep #9: SR Tournament Report - 35 points, single caster (Circle, Morv2) (with pictures!)

Howdy, folks! It's been a while in coming, but I finally have my Steamroller Tournament report up! This was over a week ago (June 21, 2014), but stuff has gotten in the way of my (all-important) blogging, and therefore I am only now getting it up. Believe it or not, I'm still planning on getting a short Adepticon report up for my last 6th edition 40k tournament, but that day is not today.

I took Circle, as it's my only army. I wasn't sure what to expect - I've been to Warmachine tournaments before, but it's been about 3 or 4 years since I went to one. I worked hard, painted everything (well, the Skinwalkers weren't quite done, but honestly still looked decent), and showed up with a silly Morv2 list! Mostly, I wished I had Reeves and War Wolves, but I owned the Wolves of Orboros (WoO), and wanted an excuse to paint them up. Guess we should go to the jump now.

Warmachine Batrep #5: Circle vs. Trolls, Menoth, and Skorne 15 Points - Grow League Week 2 (with pictures!)

Another day, another report! I will not likely be putting up reports this quickly in the future, but I've had some time to write them lately, and figured I may as well! It's fun for me to go back and read reports about games I played just after I started playing, just to see if I've gotten better or not, so these reports are pretty important to me personally. Hopefully they're helpful/fun to you as well!

Today was week 2 in our Journeyman Grow League in Fort Collins, CO. I have decided to play as Baldur1, who I initially thought of as a boring choice. I mean - who wants to play big slow dudes who have zero defense? Just doesn't seem very flexible to me, and I've never been a fan of attrition armies.

However, Baldur1 does give a lot of fun tactical flexibility. I need to work on some things with him (obviously), but there are lots more options with him than I had initially foreseen.  Let's see how I did: I got 3 games in, all of which were quite fun :)
