Hey, I'm Xaereth, welcome to Delusions of Grandeur! This is a blog dedicated (mostly) to competitive play in miniature gaming. I used to play 40k competitively, but have since started to play Warmachine exclusively. Mostly just battle reports these days. We'll see if I ever make time for more. Heh.

Feast of Blades List Submission
Hey there folks, how goes it? I recently (i.e. today) found out that list submission for Feast of Blades is due on... today. I thought I'd have more time to chew on a list that I like, but alas, I have not the time nor leisure I had at first desired.
So the question is, what list to submit? I have a pretty solid iteration of my Dark Eldar list ready, but not entirely sure if I want to commit to it. Dare I choose something radical? Or stay with my 'trusty' wolfstar instead?
Inside this post, you'll see my 'singles' list I'm thinking about, and the doubles tournament list me and my friend are already locked into playing - 'Large Base Spam' FTW :-p
Here's the list I'm
thinking about submitting for the singles:
2000 Points of Dark Eldar:
Baron Sathonyx
Haemonculus w/ Webway Portal (heh, you're probably thinking it's a radical shift in my list design, right?)
20x Hellions w/ Helliarch
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
5x Warriors w/ Blaster // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
3x Wracks // Venom w/ 2x Splinter Cannons, Grisly Trophies
6x Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2x Heat Lances, Arena Champion w/ Venom Blade
6x Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2x Heat Lances, Arena Champion w/ Venom Blade
6x Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2x Heat Lances, Arena Champion w/ Venom Blade
Ravager w/ 3x Dark Lances, Flickerfield
Ravager w/ 3x Dark Lances, Flickerfield
Ravager w/ 3x Dark Lances, Flickerfield
And... that's it. You may be wondering now, as to why I would want to be playing the Webway Portal. After all, I have lots of vehicles, etc. The simple answer (because it's just not a very complex thing) is that I want tactical diversity for the way I can play this list.
I had hoped to practice with this list a little bit, to find out if one of the squads of Reavers should be taken out in favor of a small(still 13 models lol) beast squad, but I don't have time for that. I know from experience that the Reavers deliver excellent results, and the Beasts have in the past failed me quite skillfully.
The idea of course, is that in some games, I'll want the Hellions to come in later and kill stuff, and have access to most of the board while doing so. Things like DOA armies that go full reserves will leave me wishing I could get to them quicker, and this will hopefully allow me to do so.
Otherwise, just jump around and shoot everything is the idea, and never once touch the ground while doing so :)
The Team Tournament list is something me and my friend Richard (not to be confused with Angry Richard) came up with in 5 minutes of discussion, because it made us laugh.
We like to call it "Large Base Spam":
Me:
Wolf Lord w/ Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Wolftail Talisman, Wolftooth Necklace, Saga of the Bear, Thunderwolf Mount
Wolf Lord w/ Wolf Claw, Storm Shield, Saga of Majesty, Thunderwolf Mount
4x Thunderwolf Cavalry w/ 2x Storm Shields, Thunderhammer, Melta Bombs
10x Grey Hunters w/ 2x Meltaguns, Wolf Standard // Rhino
(not angry) Richard:
Big Mekk w/ KFF
Deff Dred
Deff Dred
3x Killa Kanz
3x Killa Kanz
20x Slugga Boyz w/ Klaw
20x Slugga Boyx w/ Klaw
So... 2000 points of zero shooting, but a little bit of assaulting power.
I hope we lose every game :)
