The Nova Open
I wish I could go... but I'm spending the money to go to BoLSCON, which was an awesome time last year. Plus, it's already full, and yadda yadda. Next year though, I'd like to go. This is in my mind the way a tournament should be, with minor wins still being counted as wins (and actually meaning something more than a 'strong draw'), instead of preferring to massacre two games and lose one vs. getting 3 minor wins.
I still like going to tournaments in general, but I get sick of them sometimes. I really think a win should be a win, especially if it's the final round of a tournament and it's an epic, close game, one guy barely scrapes a win out, and promptly takes 3rd because a minor win in a big tournament means absolutely nothing. Bullshit, is what it is. You won against the other best guy in the tournament, and only got 3rd? Or worse? Dammit, I'm gonna stop this train of thought, it's making me angry.
Also, no kill points, ftw.
My hope is that it'll be a huge success, and many similar tournaments will start popping up elsewhere. The main problem I can see is the single elimination thing taking too many rounds for the average tournament. To play from 64 to a winner takes... lesse... 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1........ 6 games. On the plus side, going to 128 is only 7 games, and 256 is only 8.
I wish I had heard of it sooner, lol. Just don't have enough time for the Internets these days. Or money for all these faraway (albiet awesome) tournaments. :(

I would have loved to go as well, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss BoLSCon. I thought it was the best tournament of last year.
Still, I regret missing NOVA. MVB has done a pretty incredible job of marketing it.
I'll be doing full report, you won't miss a thing.
