Upcoming Events and What I've Been Up To (Fantasy, Warmachine, 40k, etc.)

Howdy, folks! Today I made a tough decision. As you well know, Warhammer 40k is my primary game, and I travel all around the place in order to get smacked around by my betters. It's a fun game (usually), though as you may or may not have noticed, I've become somewhat disillusioned by GW and their silly (i.e. atrocious) business practices, particularly in how they treat their customer. And, as you must also know, 7th edition has struck recently, only 2 years after the most recent edition.

As you may also have known, the Bugeater GT is coming up in a couple weekends. The new edition has not been around for a month yet, and as such, Tim has (wisely) chosen to stick with 6th edition. This has given me a lot of thinking to do on how exactly I want to experience the Bugeater.

Bugeater GT 2013 Tournament Report w/ Pictures!

Howdy, folks! Long one here for you today, as I delve into the six games that I played last weekend at the Bugeater GT in Omaha, Nebraska! I took my Grey Knights once again, with the goal of winning the tournament, but also to explore the strengths and weaknesses of Storm Ravens. You can see my post detailing exactly why I decided to test this instead of taking IG allies right here.

That said, I still very much wanted to win the tournament, and have actually come close a couple other times. Those times are chronicled elsewhere on this blog, and I'll link you to them after the jump.

The Storm Raven Experiment at Bugeater GT Edit: Pictures up!

Well folks, it's about time for me to head on down to the 3rd Annual Bugeater GT in Omaha, Nebraska. I'll be taking my Grey Knights, though without allies of any kind. Despite the rumors I spread about taking IG as allies (I still think that my list is pretty good), I'll instead be taking something that makes my current list a little um, different, looking.

To be clear, I had already re-painted a few IG squads in anticipation of Bugeater - I wasn't lying about taking them.

Read on for info on the list I'll be taking, general Storm Raven thoughts, and an intriguing email that made me change my mind...

Bugeater GT Tournament Report

Hey there folks!  How goes it?  I'm happy to report that I'm back from the Bugeater GT in one piece, after a harrowing 9-hour drive through Nebraska and Wyoming!

So, how did it go, you ask?  Did you pwn everyone in sight with your new mysterious army?

It's all a very exciting narrative of betrayal and failure, excitement and nerves.

All that in a minute, after the jump!

Bugeater 2011 GT Report (with pictures!)

Well folks, brace yourselves- you're in for a long one.  This report contains 6 full-length battle reports (including pictures!) of my Dark Eldar floundering their way through the massive field of 44 players in Omaha, NE.  It'll also contain other thoughts on the tournament itself, including format, venue, swag bag, etc.

Myself and my friend CJ made the 9-hour drive down from Colorado (well, CJ lives in Wyoming, and we met up in Cheyenne, but... anyways...) through Nebraska.  We were looking to have some fun at a small, low-key tournament (also, cheap) before we went to the much larger/slightly more prestigious BoLSCON a couple weekends from now.  Before this GT, I'd gotten a grand total of 5 games in with the Dark Eldar, and hoped to get some good, competitive experience with them before the next, slightly bigger event.

End of Day 1 in Omaha (pictures!)

Exiting, exciting Nebraska
Well, just a quick one today.  Day 1 of the Bugeater GT is dead and gone.  The games were all fun, the players each great dudes- as good a day of gaming as I've had in a while, in short.

I'm setting this...

Tomorrow I'm off to the Bugeater GT...

...and I'm excited.  It's the first tournament I'll compete in with my Dark Eldar.  The drive though boring Nebraska should be offset by the fact that my friend CJ who is going with me, is bringing along his 'Horus Rising' audio book.  Since I've always wanted to give Black Library books a try, and I have no patience for most of the writing that goes on there, perhaps a book on tape will make it more palatable.  But I digress.

The Bugeater should be

Going to the Bugeater

Randomly surfing los blogosphere the other day, I found mention of the Bugeater GT in Omaha, NE.  I had never heard of it, so I visited their website, and found that indeed, Omaha is looking to hold their very first GT-level tournament!

With further research, it was revealed that
