Warmachine Battle Report 49: Baldur1 and Krueger2 at a Steamroller, 75 points

Image result for gryphons games and comics

Hello all,
Another month, another tournament for me. I get to go to about 1 or 2 each month, depending on what the wifey lets me do.

This was another event at my old stomping grounds, Gryphon Games and Comics in Fort Collins, CO. I've been doing pretty well at each event I've been to since I've gotten back into Warmachine, but this event was going to be a little rougher than usual: I was kind of forced to bring Krueger2 instead of Tanith (because Tanith and the birds are all out right now getting painted).

Here's my list: (after the jump)

Warmachine Battle Report 45: Baldur1 and Krueger2 at 75 Point Steamroller!

Image result for funtastic gamesHowdy everyone, it's been a week or so. I've been pretty busy, and haven't gotten around to my reports. This is actually the first of two tournament reports I'll be attempting to stamp out over the course of this week (it might be more than that, we'll see).

As some of you may know, I let people vote for who my second caster should be. After an overwhelming response of Facebook, Twitter, and Blog responses, the final tally was 3 for Krueger2 and 2 for Baldur2.

Seriously, way to overwhelm me with your responses guys. :-|

Also, be prepared: this wasn't my most inspired day of playing. By a long shot. That isn't to say the games aren't interesting, but it was a little rough. :)

Haha, at any rate, here are my lists:

Warmachine Battle Report 44: Krueger2 vs. Legion and Cygnar (2 total reports)

Krueger1 or Krueger2?
At any rate, I've been trying to get him to play against lists that have a lot of shooting lately, as he's my potential shooting drop. He's also (somehow) even better at scenario than Baldur1, and has some good tricks to deal with skew lists. I'm also learning that he's got some really strong assassination potential as well.

Most of my love for him is still theoretical, but so far he's shown to be a really good "problem solver" caster.

At any rate, let's get this show on the road.

Warmachine Battle Report 43: Baldur1, Baldur2, and Krueger2 vs. Cygnar and Menoth! (3 total reports)

Boulder1 and Boulder2
Hi all,

FIRST OFF, there's a vote for you at the end of Game 2's report. Either post on this blog, the PP forums, or my Twitter account.

I've skipped reporting a few of my games lately, mainly because I had tournament reports to write and I wanted to make sure I wasn't burning myself out. However, no tournament last weekend meant that I could write these reports without hating life.

And then it's back to 2 or 3 tournaments in a row. And then a period of rest, because the internets can't handle that many reports, lol.

As I've stated in the past, I'm getting tired of using Wurmwood. He's just kind of ... formulaic. And truth be told, whereas I do enjoy winning, I also enjoy exploring corners of whatever faction I play that aren't currently being explored. At least, publicly explored, heh.

I'm trying to find a pairing for the really shooty lists out there, Sloan being one of the top on my list. The unreasonably optimistic part of my wants to believe that Grayle with all his shooting negation and stealth could be an answer. The reasonable side of me thinks

Warmachine Batrep 36: Baldur1 and Krueger2 in a Steamroller!

Image result for steamroller 2016

Howdy all,
Last weekend I went to my first tournament in about 1.7 years (if you haven't been following along, I had to stop playing war games for about 1.6 years due to LIFE). I was pretty excited - I've always been a tournament player at heart. Warmachine is a great game for tournament-minded players, and whereas I'd only played about 15 or so games since I'd restarted playing, I felt I had a chance to do okay at least.

When all players were finally registered, it turned out the field was rather large - 22 total players for a local steamroller is rather a lot! My goals for this particular tournament was to win (that's always my goal, lol), but I would be happy to just have a good showing. I hadn't been particularly disciplined about using a clock in my games up until the tournament, and I felt there was every chance I'd just get clobbered by a lot of better players/lists.

Here are the lists I brought:

Warmachine Batrep 35: Krueger2 and Baldur1 vs. Kreoss3 and Karchev!

He's not terrible anymore!
Howdy all. I've got a couple reports here for you against some factions that I haven't played against yet in MK3. And against Menoth, I think I have played a total of 2 games against them ever.

There is a tournament coming up this Saturday, and I plan on attending. My current list pairing is Krueger2 and Baldur1. Because I don't really know what lists to specifically plan against at this point, I've made a couple lists that could conceivably win any given game (in my obviously ignorant view).

The goal is to have lists that can deal with different things, while still having an okay chance to win even if I'm locked into one list or another.

That's the goal. Haha. I'm having fun being back in the game again at least, even if my plans aren't the most complicated :)

Warmachine Batrep 34: Krueger2 makes his debut vs. Skorne

Hedonism bot = Rasheth
Howdy everyone,

I've managed to get a couple more games in since my last post. For some reason, my area is fraught with Skorne players, and as such I'm likely to play them a lot. This post is no exception - two different days, two different Skorne players.

Today I played my favorite caster in MKII - Krueger2. He got nerfed a little (his feat no longer prevents charges due to the SPD debuff), but still does some really good things. I'm definitely more of a control-style player, and if K2 is anything, he's a control caster.

Warmachine Batrep 32: Circle at Feast of Blades, Day 3 (MASTERS TOURNAMENT), Lots of Pictures!

I'm certainly not this guy. Not yet anyways :)
Howdy, everyone! Today I've got a fun one for you! This is from my Day 3 at Feast of Blades. More importantly, it's a masters report! I got to play a total of four games against great players, and took pictures of all of them! I was really looking forward to playing, despite knowing that I stood very little chance to even win one game, much less the whole thing. Still, I was excited to play against the best players in the tournament, and at least get some experience.

I certainly got both, that's for sure!

Warmachine Batrep 31: Circle at Feast of Blades, Day 2 (Team Tournament), Lots of Pictures!

What's up what's up! I have another set of Circle Batreps for you today from my recent foray to the Feast of Blades! If you look at Batrep 30, you can read my harrowing journey through the morass that was the Divide and Conquer event, and my single Iron Gauntlet game against Lylyth2. I'll spoil what happened on Friday after the break, and set up the team tournament. It's kind of awesome, actually. 4 reports total today, with my usual load of pictures and stuff.

Warmachine Batrep 30: Circle at Feast of Blades, Day 1 (D&C event + Iron Gauntlet), Lots of Pictures!

Whew! Just got back from Feast of Blades, and I'm kind of wiped out! I played a total of 14 games, and took pictures for all of them! I won't spoil the results for you all, so you can be in suspense the whole time :-p

I'll be writing up three different posts: Days 1, 2, and 3. It'll take me a while to get through all of the games, but I'll get there! I only took three different lists, though I think that at least one of those will be changing in the future. I'll let you figure out which one for yourself, haha ;)

Let's get to the jump, and we can begin to unpack the SIX games I played on Day 1 of Feast of Blades.

Warmachine Batrep 29: Circle (Krueger2 and Morv2) vs. Khador (Butcher3, Sorscha2) 50 Points, Lots of Pictures!

This is what you get for being a noob!
Howdy, folks! I've been pumping out reports pretty quick lately, trying to get ready for Feast, and using these reports not only to entertain my readers, but also to help me analyze my play. Today I've got a couple good ones for you - both against Khador, and both against the dreaded Josh "noobSTOMP" Nordstrom. (I should note that I'm the only noob he stomps - he's actually pretty nice to others of my kind)

One game is against my white whale - Butcher3. I've lost three out of three games against Butcher3, but each game has been closer than the last. Can I beat him this time?

The other is a game against Sorscha2, where Josh and I agreed not to take our "crutch" casters. Funny to think of Morv2 as NOT my crutch caster, lol. At any rate, let's see what the holds in store for us!

Warmachine Batrep #25: IMC Tournament Report - 50 points, three casters (Circle - Morv2, Krueger2, Cassius) (with pictures!)

NOT my picture - I stole it shamelessly from Facebook. Pretty awesome kid!
Last weekend (September 13, specifically), I went to the Inter-Mountain Cup (IMC) in Ogden, Utah. The IMC is a Masters-style tournament that happens twice every year in the same area (it can apparently change venues, so long as said venue is near to Salt Lake). It has 64 people attend it every year, and it's a 1-day event.

Let's say that again.

It's a 1-day event. That means 6 total games of Warmachine without a single break, even for dinner. You play 6 games straight.

This was my first Masters event, and I brought Circle (my only army). Lists and such after the break.

Warmachine Batrep #24: SR Tournament Report - 50 points, two casters (Circle - Morv2 + Krueger2) (with pictures!)

Howdy, everyone! Today I have a tournament report from a local(ish) Steamroller event I attended last Saturday. This was my 3rd tournament since I've gotten back into the game, and would be great practice for the IMC next weekend.

I only own Circle, so that was obviously going to be my faction. However, I've been toying with several different lists and casters. I finally decided on Krueger2 and Morvahna2 as my two casters, since they're two of my three casters I will be taking to IMC next weekend (Cassius being my 3rd). Lists and reports after the jump!

Warmachine Batrep #22: 50 Points Circle (Krueger2) vs. Skorne (Xerxis1) (with pictures!)

Xerxes, not Xerxis. Spelled it wrong up til today!
Howdy, folks! Another day, another report! Today I faced off against Leighanna (did I spell it right? My spell check says that I am clearly trying to spell "Ghanaian" haha) and her Skorne. She's still somewhat new to the faction, but has been playing for far longer than I have! Her stuff is getting painted at a pretty brisk pace, and I was excited to play against Xerxis1 again - he's a fun caster, and he does some pretty cool stuff.

In preparation for the upcoming tournament this weekend, I played Krueger2 again. I don't know if you've noticed, but he's been my go-to caster for a while now. Lots of fun to be had with him for a guy like me who loves scenario play. It may sound a little crazy, but I honestly feel like he might be a stronger overall caster than Morv2, due to the fact that he doesn't have any awful matchups. Time will tell if this is correct of course :)
