Warmachine Battle Report 50: Baldur1 (and Tanith) at Store Wars Team Tournament, 75 points

Howdy everyone! I've got some battle reports here for you, in the context of an annual team tournament we have in Denver every year. It's called "Store Wars", and each game shop in our area puts together a 5-player team to compete with the others. I played in this tournament as my last act in MK2 (albeit about 1.5 years before the actual end of MK2), and had the worst tournament result of my life (I went 0-3). No matter that there were a some really crazy (unlucky) things that day... I still did a very poor job overall. No reports for those games, since I was on my way out of the hobby at the time, but suffice it to say that as a competitive player, it's one of my more embarrassing moments.

Ironically, my team still won the event, and I got a trophy that I didn't really earn. This time, I hoped that I could redeem myself in my own eyes, and actually be a help to my team.

Warmachine Battle Report 43: Baldur1, Baldur2, and Krueger2 vs. Cygnar and Menoth! (3 total reports)

Hi all,

FIRST OFF, there's a vote for you at the end of Game 2's report. Either post on this blog, the PP forums, or my Twitter account.

I've skipped reporting a few of my games lately, mainly because I had tournament reports to write and I wanted to make sure I wasn't burning myself out. However, no tournament last weekend meant that I could write these reports without hating life.

And then it's back to 2 or 3 tournaments in a row. And then a period of rest, because the internets can't handle that many reports, lol.

As I've stated in the past, I'm getting tired of using Wurmwood. He's just kind of ... formulaic. And truth be told, whereas I do enjoy winning, I also enjoy exploring corners of whatever faction I play that aren't currently being explored. At least, publicly explored, heh.

I'm trying to find a pairing for the really shooty lists out there, Sloan being one of the top on my list. The unreasonably optimistic part of my wants to believe that Grayle with all his shooting negation and stealth could be an answer. The reasonable side of me thinks

Warmachine Batrep 40: Baldur1 and Wurmwood at Rocky Mountain Rumble Day 2

Day 2!
Howdy all,

This is Day 2 of Rocky Mountain Rumble. Here's the link to Day 1.

So, I'm here on Day 2. Me, and 7 other players who are all probably way better than me. Here is the breakdown of armies present:

3x Khador
2x Trollbloods (Jay Larson is one of them)
1x Circle (me)
1x Menoth
1x Skorne

I was actually excited by this development. I was pretty familiar with all of the factions other than Menoth. Whereas I didn't have a ton of MK3 experience against each of these factions, I at least wouldn't be super surprised by what each faction can do.

My goal yesterday was to make it to the top 8. I succeeded.

And like the other top 8, I had a chance to win the whole thing. That was of course my goal, but I was also prepared to lose all three of my games. I just wanted some good games against some good players!

Warmachine Batrep 35: Krueger2 and Baldur1 vs. Kreoss3 and Karchev!

He's not terrible anymore!
Howdy all. I've got a couple reports here for you against some factions that I haven't played against yet in MK3. And against Menoth, I think I have played a total of 2 games against them ever.

There is a tournament coming up this Saturday, and I plan on attending. My current list pairing is Krueger2 and Baldur1. Because I don't really know what lists to specifically plan against at this point, I've made a couple lists that could conceivably win any given game (in my obviously ignorant view).

The goal is to have lists that can deal with different things, while still having an okay chance to win even if I'm locked into one list or another.

That's the goal. Haha. I'm having fun being back in the game again at least, even if my plans aren't the most complicated :)

Warmachine Batrep 30: Circle at Feast of Blades, Day 1 (D&C event + Iron Gauntlet), Lots of Pictures!

Whew! Just got back from Feast of Blades, and I'm kind of wiped out! I played a total of 14 games, and took pictures for all of them! I won't spoil the results for you all, so you can be in suspense the whole time :-p

I'll be writing up three different posts: Days 1, 2, and 3. It'll take me a while to get through all of the games, but I'll get there! I only took three different lists, though I think that at least one of those will be changing in the future. I'll let you figure out which one for yourself, haha ;)

Let's get to the jump, and we can begin to unpack the SIX games I played on Day 1 of Feast of Blades.

Warmachine Batrep #24: SR Tournament Report - 50 points, two casters (Circle - Morv2 + Krueger2) (with pictures!)

Howdy, everyone! Today I have a tournament report from a local(ish) Steamroller event I attended last Saturday. This was my 3rd tournament since I've gotten back into the game, and would be great practice for the IMC next weekend.

I only own Circle, so that was obviously going to be my faction. However, I've been toying with several different lists and casters. I finally decided on Krueger2 and Morvahna2 as my two casters, since they're two of my three casters I will be taking to IMC next weekend (Cassius being my 3rd). Lists and reports after the jump!

Warmachine Batrep #8: Circle Morv2 vs. Menoth Harby, Circle Kaya1, Mercs Bart 35 Points - Grow League Week 6 (with pictures!)

Howdy, folks! Another three batreps from the FINAL NIGHT OF GROW LEAGUE!! This iteration of grow league stayed at 35 points, but this time we had zero restrictions. People could take whatever caster they wanted, with whatever list they wanted. Because we have a tournament coming up (single caster, 35 points), I've been dithering over what the best 'all-comers' list at 35 points is.

My choice ended up being Morvahna2, despite the hate she's been getting lately. I think that Kreuger2 would also be a good choice, though I'm not sure (as in, I just don't know enough to give an honest opinion) that he can really do everything he wants at 35 points. Morv2 at 35 points seems pretty strong, if you bring the right models. As such, I've been working to paint as many models as I can for the Morv2 list, and thought it would be nice to get in a few games before the tournament um, tomorrow.

Warmachine Batrep #5: Circle vs. Trolls, Menoth, and Skorne 15 Points - Grow League Week 2 (with pictures!)

Another day, another report! I will not likely be putting up reports this quickly in the future, but I've had some time to write them lately, and figured I may as well! It's fun for me to go back and read reports about games I played just after I started playing, just to see if I've gotten better or not, so these reports are pretty important to me personally. Hopefully they're helpful/fun to you as well!

Today was week 2 in our Journeyman Grow League in Fort Collins, CO. I have decided to play as Baldur1, who I initially thought of as a boring choice. I mean - who wants to play big slow dudes who have zero defense? Just doesn't seem very flexible to me, and I've never been a fan of attrition armies.

However, Baldur1 does give a lot of fun tactical flexibility. I need to work on some things with him (obviously), but there are lots more options with him than I had initially foreseen.  Let's see how I did: I got 3 games in, all of which were quite fun :)
