Genghis Con Warhammer 40k GT Report (with pictures!)

Well, it's been over a week since the fact, and I'm finally getting around to the daunting task of posting up five battle reports in a single post.  Hopefully you guys like it- it's going to be a pain in the ass :)

Genghis Con has traditionally been *the* big tournament in Colorado, and though there are other tournaments who are seeking to take their place (Feast of Blades and Horustooth Heresy), as of right now, this is the big one.  The prize support has almost always been lacking, but to win Genghis or Tacticon (the other big tournament, held 6 months from each other by the DGA) has always been a rather prestigious affair.

Random Dark Eldar List- 1850

Yesterday, I was thinking a little bit about Dark Eldar, and decided to create an MSU list, since I haven't done anything of note with Dark Eldar yet, other than bash on Wyches, and draw against them every time I've played against them, lol.  So, here's my very first attempt at a competitive 1850 Dark Eldar list.

Genghis Con Fantasy Tournament Report (with pictures!)

So, I recently got back from Genghis Con, which is our area's yearly (bi-yearly?) big event.  There's a 40k GT (which I competed in) and then a 3-game Fantasy tournament on Sunday.  This is my report on how my Dark Elves did at this tournament.

Email in: 2500 Point 'Arrrrd Boyz List

What's up folks?  This is the beginning of me actually posting more than a couple scatter-brained posts a week.  This email has been in my inbox for much longer than it should have been, and I really have to apologize for how long it took to get to.  So, let's look at the email first:

Genghis is over

Well everyone, Genghis is over, and so are the excuses for not posting more up here.  I have a fully painted Dark Elf army, and now I'm working on Orks, but the painting schedule isn't nearly as frightening as it has been the past week :)

So, how did I do at Genghis?  It's a little complicated, actually.

Tournament Report: 1850 Wolves at Practicon RTT

Howdy everyone, how's it going?  I have lots of tournaments coming up soon, and though I took pictures of this RTT I was in, I really don't know when I'll be getting up to doing it.  This weekend is Genghis (which is a local 40k GT + a Fantasy tournament on Sunday), so I'll be writing 8 (yes, 8) battle reports for that.  A couple weeks later, I'll have the Feast of Blades (heh, Fest of Blades is more like it).  So, lots of battle reports, and this one kind of fell by the wayside.

Pictures of my newly painted Cold One Chariot

Well folks, I realize there has been a drought of actual solid content from me for a while.  This is due entirely to the fact that I've been painting furiously in order to be ready for the Fantasy tournament at Genghis this Sunday.  I've had:

Look What I Got!

Something cool (and expensive!), I guess?  It mainly means I'm going to be painting like a madman this week, in preparation for Genghis.  Last year at Genghis I got 2nd in both Fantasy and 40k.  Will I do it again?  Probably not.  Certainly gonna try (and try to actually win, at that)!  :)

I discovered recently that

What is a Tier a nid?

 An Article by BigSanta

Hello Delusions of Grandeur,

I wanted to start off with my Tyranids articles with a quick intro in to the Bug men.

The Tyranids are an alien race from parts unknown. They have come to the 40k galaxy for one purpose, NOM NOM NOM. The Tyranids have Hive Fleets that travel from planet to planet devouring all biological matter. Grow and consume is their prime directive. From the lowliest grot to the grandest Lord, they are all bio-matter to feed the swarm. Even Hive Fleets will fight each other; their motif is, “the strongest will survive and strive.”

What the Tyranids army is in 40k-

I see the Tyranids as a unique army because of

Flames of What?!!!

An Article by C.J. Young

Hello Everyone,

I know what you are thinking! What is a Flames of War post doing on a Warhammer/Warmachine blog? Well I must confess that I am big into Flames of War (FOW) to and have been a WWII history nut since I was Young. I have a mid-war Italian Army and over 8000 points in late-war Germans, but I know

Weekly Battle Report Intermezzo: Team Tournament at Valhallas

So, last Saturday (the 29th) myself and my friend Angry Richard took off for a tournament about an hour away in Denver.  The place we played at was Valhallas, at which I had never before played a tournament.  The tourney scene in Colorado is pretty big these days, and we ended up with 34 (or thereabouts) total teams.  For three games total in a battlepoints format, it essentially meant that to win you needed to get three pretty solid wins.

Santa is coming to Delusions of Grandeur

Hello Delusions of Grandeur!

My internet name is BigSanta, and soon I will be contributing to this blogosphere.  I have known Xaereth for
many years now and fondly remember of the days when I was teaching him tricks of the 40k world. I used to think, “Oh this Xaereth character is a pretty good gamer but he’s got lots to learn.” Now I feel as a Sith lord whose apprentice has always exceeded him in every way and was really scheming my demise from the beginning. I am an avid gamer in all respects: miniatures, video, Sudoku, and

Email in: Blood Angels 2k List Review

Somewhat recently(ish) I got an email asking for my help. I'm always happy to help review lists, and this is no exception.  If anyone wants a list review, feel free to send me an email.  It doesn't only have to be Blood Angels (though it seems that the majority of my 'internets fame' comes from my Blood Angels articles at Jawaball's blog).  It might take me a few days to get it done, but I'll be happy to help, if I can :)  Anyways, on to the email!

A peek into my real life

Hey there folks, what's happening.  Sorry for the inactivity of late, it's been pretty bad really, and I'm somewhat ashamed of it.  However, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Blood Pact!

An Article by C.J. Young

Hello Everyone,

Well, after having shown you all my Knights of Victus which has consumed all of my 40k efforts for the past eight months I thought I would switch gears and start working on my Blood Pact again. The Blood Pact are my favorite army and I have spent more time on them then any other army I have ever worked on!

Random Meandering of Thoughts, mostly about Fantasy

Well, I'm back from the tournament.  My camera ran out of batteries for Game 2, so I'm waiting for my friend Angry Richard to email me the pictures we took with his cool phone.  The tournament was fun though, I'll have a full report up once he emails them to me- it was a fun event, though I'll leave you to speculate on how I did.  We ended up using a Nobstar/Wolfstar combo, and despite terrible rolling for saves on Game 2, the lists basically worked the way we wanted them to.

All I can say really, is that Nobs kill what they look at.  Seriously, for like 500 points (including the battlewagon), nobs are ridiculous.  I can't imagine why someone wouldn't take them.  Seriously the most efficient 500 close combat points spent in the game.  Anyways.

I've finally received my email from GW, saying that I qualified for their GT in Vegas this year and
